David W Smith born Mid Lothian Scotland.

After moving to Bristol in 1974 on a family relocation I was educated locally and then attended Colston School, Stapleton, Bristol.  On leaving school in 1988 I joined a large local independent estate agent and worked my way through the ranks to become senior sales manager.

In 1994 went to work for large corporate estate agent as a sales manager in the Georgian City of Bath. 

In 1998 became a training manager covering Bristol, Swindon, Oxford and Exeter coaching other property professionals in time management and selling skills.

In 1999 after missing the cut and thrust of the day to day agency business formed my own company, D W Smith & Co., a company that still trades very successfully today and is a leader in lettings and sales on the Eastern fringe of Bristol.  During this time I have been involved in land and new homes, the acquisition and sale of large plots of land for development, commercial sales including retail shop units, public houses and country houses.  I currently also advise several portfolio landlords in the ongoing advancement of their property acquisition and help them achieve their targets in respect of growth and yield.  I have also been involved in transactions in South Wales, Gloucester and the Spanish Costas.  I personally have also been involved in development and several conversions. 

In my time buying and selling property I have identified the need for a dedicated property expert particularly when buying out of one’s own area of expertise, in negotiating property deals for myself and my clients I have found this difficult in certain areas and wished that there was a man on the ground that I could have used for local knowledge and getting the inside track. 

Therefore, I have set up Bristol Property Finders to plug this gap in the market.
